Napo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a publicly traded pharmaceutical company based in South San Francisco, California. Napo's lead drug candidate, crofelemer, is under development for gastrointestinal indications including chronic diarrhea in persons living with HIV/AIDS. Additionally, Napo has entered into a licensing agreement for the worldwide development and commercialization of crofelemer for Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
In addition to crofelemer, Napo has identified NP-500, a product for insulin-resistant diseases of Type II diabetes and Syndrome X. The company also has a library of approximately 2,300 medicinal plants, all of which are available to be screened to discover new chemical entities and new pharmaceutical products.
To facilitate the successful development and commercialization of crofelemer and other proprietary pharmaceuticals for the global marketplace, Napo has formed alliances with Trine Pharmaceuticals Inc; Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited of Mumbai, India; and AsiaPharm Group Ltd of China.
