Napo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a privately held pharmaceutical company based in San Francisco, California. Napo's lead drug candidate, crofelemer, is under development for gastrointestinal indications including chronic diarrhea in persons living with HIV/AIDS.
In addition to crofelemer, Napo has identified NP-500, a product for insulin-resistant diseases of Type II diabetes and Syndrome X. The company also has a library of approximately 2,300 medicinal plants, all of which are available to be screened to discover new chemical entities and new pharmaceutical products.
To facilitate the successful development and commercialization of crofelemer and other proprietary pharmaceuticals for the global marketplace, Napo has formed alliances with Salix Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited of Mumbai, India and AsiaPharm Group Ltd of China.
